I read somewhere that we’re not supposed to call it hoar frost anymore, but instead “frozen fog.” I’m all for avoiding hurt feelings, but I don’t quite understand this one. It’s a totally different spelling and meaning. Anyway, your photos are spectacular!
We’ve always called it hoar frost. I did check with our local meteorologist to see if there was a preferred scientific name: Nope – hoar frost. Thanks for visiting!
It was a very lovely morning with everything fluffy and white. It was fragile, however. The crystals tumbled to the ground as the sun fell on them. I had to be very careful not to touch anything. Thanks for your kind words!
That is such a perfect shot, the clothespin in the frost, all three of them. It is kind of iconic and says a lot about the honest and uncomplicated life of country life.
beautiful photos!!
Oh, my! Looks cold, but beautiful. Interesting how the ice looks almost fuzzy!

I adore the images of the clothes pins … so unexpected.
Thank you! I love my clothesline in every season.
The frost looks so pretty covering everything. Looks freezing but what beautiful shots.

Oh, thank you. I am in awe of your amazing photography. Your words are encouragement, indeed!
Love that photo that looks like icy astilbe. Was also impressed with your cast iron dutch oven in another post. Am trying to give up teflon…
